Sabic: ABS plant in France to close in 2008

Sabic Innovative Plastics  will close its loss-making ABS plant at Villers-Saint-Sulpice / France in the first half of 2008, with the loss of 165 jobs. Some of the estimated 70,000 t/y output is expected to be transferred to Grangemouth / Scotland, where the last reported capacity was 60,000 t/y. Talks with employees about a social plan have begun, and a spokeswoman said there will be no compulsory redundancies before April. SIP said the French site has been in loss for five years.
